Pickering Bike-O Weekend

It was interesting that there were more riders competing at Pickering for 2 hours on Saturday than in the 5-hour Trailquest on Sunday. There were also more Generation teams than Mixed pairs.

We are already thinking about next year because the TCA will want our proposed fixture list as soon as the summer holidays are over. I am happy with this year's programme of 10 league events, 3 summer evening events and 3 winter events but what do you want? I am happy with the basic 2-hour score format plus 4 longer events but are you? We will be using a few different areas next year but if you think there is an area that we haven't used yet please let me know.

The planners have done an excellent job so far and some of them will not want to plan again for 12 months so please let me know if you fancy having a go. If you have never planned an event before the summer evening and winter informal events are perfect for novices - and a good excuse to ride your bike regularly.

The Ebor/Clok League positions are getting interesting now that some riders are starting to drop their weakest scores of the season.

A Stu Neilson & Andy Conn are just in front of Andrew Windrum and Wayne Nicholson with Paul Allen and Andy Simpson breathing down their necks.
B Jill Furphy is still ahead of Mandy Faint but Mandy has only ridden in 5 events and Jill's partner is fit again to ride in the Veteran's.
C Richard Martin is still ahead but Paul Thornton is looking ominous after only 4 scores!
D Tina Waterall is still in the lead but Carol Johnson is fit again to ride with Jill (and they beat Tina on Saturday).
E David Day is still just ahead of John Dixon but Dave Evans is in sight after only 5 events
F Karen Blackburn is still looking dominant but Mary Carrick beat her on Sunday.
G Jim & Lucy Imber took over the lead because they compete in 5-hour events. Luke Pentith and Chris Walker will probably regain the lead after the next event.
X Simon Trickett and Carolyn Binns beat Mike Nayler and Carol Donnelly at both events last weekend to go into the lead.
Y Tom Pickwell is still looking like winning this category despite not riding at the weekend.

The next event is based on Lownorth Park, Harwood Dale near Scarborough. It is part of the annual Eborienteers White Rose event so it is taking place on SUNDAY afternoon (so that the orienteers can compete after running). It is a 3-hour event based on 2 forests (Harwood Dale & Broxa) and the bridleways between. There is a campsite so why not come for the weekend?

I'm off to the Alps for 3 weeks (after my daughter's wedding) but I hope to see you at an event in the near future.
