Congratulations to Nigel Clarkson and Paul Thornton for putting on an excellent event at Hamsterley with the help of Clok members. Plenty of route choice, good tracks, a well-mapped forest, dry weather and a pleasant event centre. Different to Gilling but just as enjoyable - and no need to push your bike - unless you took the straight line route from 19 to 30.
Some familiar names are in the lead in the different classes but some riders have missed events. A couple of notable riders are Karen Blackburn and Tom Pickwell. Karen is the leading Super Veteran Woman and 20th overall. Tom is 8th Senior Man and 13th overall - and he is only 16.
The next league event is at Wass Forest on June 5th and the first summer event is at Pickering tomorrow evening starting at the Station Hotel.
There is an extra date to add to your diaries. A 2-day social weekend of mountain biking based on the Lion Inn at Blakey Rigg in the middle of the North Yorkshire Moors on July 10/11th. Details will be available at Wass.
