Congratulations to Dave Goodwin and Andy Mundy for planning an excellent course despite the restrictions caused by the size and shape of the area. I thought I few fitter riders might clear up but the steep bank thankfully made it possible. Not that I particularly appreciated Wass Bank as I toiled up it with 30 minutes to go. Like a few of you, I had trouble with #30 (and #16) but, on reflection, if I had gone 30m further along both tracks I would have found both controls. As it was, tired legs, tired brain and a ticking clock put too much pressure on so I got back and kept most of the points that I had already scored. I would rather make this kind of mistake at our events than at the Nationals.
Thanks yet again to our cheerful bunch of volunteers - especially the control collectors. Thanks also to John Dixon who has taken over calculating the league points and here are his comments on movers and shakers.
| Class A: | Andrew presently on top but stiff competition from Andy and Justin coming up. Tom Pickwell still hanging in there with the big lads. |
| Class B: | Mandy looks comfortable but Cath has had a good start, will she catch up? |
| Class C: | Richard had better watch out for John Galway and the Jim and Dave duo. |
| Class D: | Ceri is well away, will Jill and Carol show up and catch up? |
| Class E: | John is artificially ahead but young Dave Evans is right behind him. Most of the other Daves are off the pace though it is good to see D Day back in action. |
| Class F: | Karen seems well away but who can grab second place? |
| Class G and X: | Very tight at the top of both these classes! But good to see Jess leading the way with her Dad |
| Class Y: | Good to see so many in this class, all trying hard. |
The next league events are at Cropton Forest on July 3rd & 4th. I hope many of you will stay all weekend and make it a social event even if you don't intend to ride in all 5 events. You can naturally just enter one - but both afternoon events count in the league. I have attached the entry form. It isn't laid out in the same way as usual so please work out your entry fees carefully.
The second summer event is at Bagby near Thirsk on Wednesday evening starting at the Greyhound Inn.
Don't forget the extra event. A 2-day social weekend of mountain biking based on the Lion Inn at Blakey Rigg in the middle of the North Yorkshire Moors on July 10/11th.
Results and split times of all our MBO events are on the TCA, Ebor and Clok web pages www.trailquest.co.uk www.eborienteers.org.uk www.clok.org.uk
Please let me know if there are any errors in the results.
