Cropton Forest Weekend

Eborienteers/TCA Mountain bike Orienteering Event

Events 6 & 7 of the 2004 North Yorks Bike-O league consisting of 11 events with your best 6 scores counting.

Day	Event	Start Times	Description
Sat	MTBO	10:30-11:00	Visit 13 controls in a fixed order in the fastest time. There will be some compulsory walking sections across bridleways that will be taped and marshalled.
	Spanish Score	01:00-01:30	N. YORKS. LEAGUE EVENT 6 Visit up to 20 controls in any order. All controls are worth 10 points. 1 point will be added for every minute under 2 hours as long as you visit all 20 controls. 10 points will be deducted for every minute over 2 hours.
	Night MBO	10:00-10:15 pm	Visit up to 10 controls in 1 hr. Usual penalties.
Sun	MTB	09:30-10:00	Cycle round the 5km marked route for 1 hr.
	MBO Score	01:00-01:45	N. YORKS LEAGUE EVENT 7 Visit up to 30 controls in 2 hours. Usual penaltie

TRAVEL

Leave the A170 at Pickering and head north for 5 miles passing through Newton-on-Rawclffe then Stape. Turn left into the parking field 1 mile north of Stape

Camping, parking, toilets, hot refreshments, bar

CAMPSITE

Open from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon Suitable for tents and caravans but only limited water supply so please bring plenty with you.
Fat Pigs will be catering from Saturday morning.

All within 1km of the Assembly field

CHECKPOINTS

These will be identified with a 20cm square red/white foamex marker with an electronic punch attached.

PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded at 4.00 on Sunday to category winners who have competed in all 5 events. Selection of bike accessories donated by Karbitz of Boroughbridge plus the usual selection of wine

If you decide to enter on the day there is no surcharge but you may have to copy from master maps so bring OS Outdoor Leisure Sheet 27

We are using the SportIdent Electronic punching system for all 5 events. If you have your own SI card please enter the number on the entry form.

Instructions:

Please show courtesy to local residents and visitors.
You can compete solo or in pairs
Pairs must remain together at all times and both have to punch SPORT IDENT cards
At registration you will receive your SI card and description list
Go to the start when you are ready
One minute before you start you will receive a pre-marked, bagged map
Results will be posted on the Ebor, Clok & TCA web pages

Required equipment for events:

Roadworthy and well-maintained bike
You must wear a helmet at all times
First-aid kit of at least a dressing, crepe bandage & plasters
Puncture repair kit or jelly-filled tyres and simple tool kit
Headlight and batteries for Night MBO

Rules:

The mountain bike code must be followed at all times.
You have free access in the forested areas except for areas marked out of bounds.
Outside the forest all footpaths are out of bounds to cyclists so please stick to bridleways, by-ways and roads
You should not do anything that you would consider cheating if someone else did it. Marshals will disqualify anyone taking an unfair advantage.
Pairs must remain together at all times and must both use their own electronic punch at the control
Please close all gates, pass walkers and horse riders courteously and respect the local community
You must report to the finish even if you retire
