Results from the first summer Lanequest at North Stainley below. Graham Townsend had planned an excellent course in superb countryside north and west of Ripon. 26 riders turned up and enjoyed riding around lots of dry, firm  bridleways and minor roads through beautiful scenery and attractive villages. Andrew Hunt rode in his first MBO event for a couple of years and used his fitness, navigation and local knowledge to good effect to record the highest score of the evening. Richard Jones over-estimated his speed so got caught out leaving Colin Prestwich to win the Veteran Men's class - his house is on the map so he possibly had a slight advantage. Karen Heppenstall unfortunately had a mechanical breakdown and had to run the last 5 miles so Ruth Greenwood took advantage to win the Women's category. The Staveley Arms provided an excellent meal for the 20 riders who were able to socialise afterwards. A perfect end to an excellent evening.
The next evening event is at the Greyhound in Bagby near Thirsk on Wednesday 14th June. Email entries to me please.
The next NYMBO league event is at the Holly Hill Inn at Richmond on Saturday 27th May - one mile south of the market place on the road to Hudswell. It is a 3-hour event - not 2 hours as originally advertised. The competition area includes the Catterick Moors but, as we couldn't get permission to use any of the Army training area, most controls are located in Lower Swaledale. Entries as usual to Sue Adams, please.
Cheers
Steve
