Andrew Windrum and Wayne Nicholson had used their training rides to plan an excellent course in the Howardian Hills and 31 riders turned up to compete. They had also arranged the first dry evening for this summer series. Unfortunately they didn't get the map to Jens in time for him to draw so he printed the course planned in 2005 - also by Andrew & Wayne. The tracks were just the same but some of the clues couldn't be answered as the features were no longer there!! Despite this, everyone seemed to enjoy their rides with a choice of the Howardian Hills or Ryedale. It was a long way around Castle Howard and quite a few riders over-estimated the distance that could be ridden so returned late. Fortunately I changed my mind once I reached the Bulmer road and headed back via Sheriff Hutton. Nick Harmer once more showed the way with an excellent score and will surely push Andrew & Wayne for first place when the NYMBO League continues in August. The Malt Shovel was an excellent venue and many people stayed for a bar meal which we could eat outside. A pleasant event in a lovely area - you can't ask for more on a July evening.
