Another excellent event planned by Nick Harmer with another superb map by Jens Strain. Unfortunately only 26 riders ignored the weather warnings, put an extra blanket and shovel in their cars and made the dangerous journey to the edge of the Wolds!!! However, apart from cold feet, we all had an excellent 2 hours in scenic countryside before returning to a welcoming pub. The Jolly Farmers at Leavening served excellent beer and food – and they have got copies of the map and descriptions if anyone wants a social ride in warmer weather!!
Local riders excelled this week with Mike Nayler from Scagglethorpe finishing 30 points ahead of Steph Fountain and Bernard Cleaver from Howsham who were 40 points ahead of third place. They chose to stick to tarmac to the south while I ignored Nick’s advice and enjoyed the dubious pleasure of 4 bridleways to the north.
If anyone missed this or any other winter event please send me an SAE and I will post a copy of the map and descriptions.
The new NYMBO season starts next month with an event in Cropton Forest. Mike and Beth Pickwell have been out planning the course and have booked Sutherland Lodge as the event centre.
