Planner's Report

When Sue phoned to see if I would plan this at short notice I was happy to do so. Not because of any other reason - it got me off my backside to do some serious running and map work. Over the last few weeks I have lost some of the weight I put on due to the lack of orienteering, so it has helped me a lot.

Olivers Mount was never going to be a technical event so the order of the day had to be interesting and route choices. With an old map and many changes it was difficult to decide what to put on the map, in the end I decided to make it the minimum. When I found a number of good control sites that were not even on the map I had another dilemma. I decided to include them and make a comment on the leaflet. Overall it was not strictly within the guide rules but I thought it made it more interesting and it was the same for everybody. I did get e few comments on these items but with the overall comments I received, I think the decisions were correct.

Thanks for turning up, thanks for the comments, thanks for the weather, thanks to Steve, Jenny and Mike for control collecting and a big thanks to Sue for organising the event. Had it not been for her enthusiasm there would not have been an event. Finally, did anyone try out the view from the top or the blueberry pie at the café.

Organiser's Report

Many thanks for turning up and making it such a good fun day, the weather was superb and everybody seemed to have a good time.

As always thanks to our handful of helpers, to Mike Ellwood for planning the challenging courses and making good use of such a small area, the spooky thing is on his final details which were handed out on arrival his opening sentence was "Welcome to Olivers Mount on this glorious day" but he gave us the details on Saturday, maybe he could select six numbers for us next week !!
