Checking the Brown course control sites and legs in a blizzard was typical of the hazards faced at this time of year. Luckily, we had almost ideal conditions on the day and as I tried to avoid the worst areas, if you chose the right route, most legs could be runnable and quite fast. Only control 127 was really wet, yet it had been much drier when I originally tagged it! However it was possible to work round it and only get your feet wet, but of course many of you decided to paddle straight through! However, I hope you enjoyed running off the Christmas excesses and judging from most peoples reactions you did.
Electronic punching does make certain aspects of planning easier, but it does require assistance in putting out those unwieldy stakes and then the boxes. I particularly wish to thank Matthew Speake for the excellent help both in putting out and collecting in afterwards.
Thanks also go to the Myers family who braved the freezing cold to run the string course. It was touch and go whether we would have one as I felt that the conditions at this time of year could not be relied on. It is asking a lot of people. Thanks also to Kevin and Karel for their help collecting as well. Finally, thanks to Dave and Sue and all their helpers for what was a pretty smooth operation, all calmly controlled by Jeff Harris whom nothing seems to faze!
Strensall Common is a much more technical area than many people realise as often the features are subtle and so many areas look similar.

It is a pleasure to organise an event when it runs as smoothly as it did, the weather was chilly but sunny and very pleasant , the Sportident worked almost without a hitch, just a bit slow at download, sorry. As always in the organisers comments thanks are due to the superb team of helpers.
