After the event Orienteers enjoy the hot soup, provided by Anne Smith, and bright sunshine. |

As many of you have already experienced, the ground cover is amazingly varied. My main concern was how to entice you away from the really rough stuff while giving you plenty of route choice. Because of the slow going I kept the course lengths on the shorter side.
Many of you were appreciative of the courses. Certainly the clear sunshine helped to enhance the feeling of enjoyment.
I would like to thank Roger and Ann Smith for organising, Mike Ridealgh
for controlling in his own inimitable way, and Brian Tucker, Dennis Hootton and
Doug Scott for all their assistance. A special thank you must go to Cathy Odell
for updating the map.
Lionel Carter
Considering that Wheldrake is a very small wood, Lionel provided some
very good courses making the most of what runnable bits there are. Regarding
Control 13, it was in the right place in a typical rather grotty bit of a North
Yorkshire forest. Thanks to all participants and helpers.
Mike Ridealgh
I cannot thank enough the members of Ebor who helped so much to stage this event. When they realised that I was somewhat overwhelmed by family circumstances and liable not to cope, they quietly stepped in and made sure the jobs were done. It's at times like that that you realise who your friends are. So to all you quiet helpful folk, thankyou, and to Lionel and Mike who are great to work with, and to Roger who took a lot of stick!
Three people spoke to me about their difficulties At Control 13, and I
met with the Planner and Controller and discussed the matters raised at length.
The outcome was that the control should remain in the competition.
Thanks
for coming everyone.
Happy New Year
Ann Smith
