Sponsors:

Eborienteers would like to thank our sponsors Yorkshire Water and Morrisons Utility Services for their support. Yorkshire Water has agreed to support the White Rose Weekend for the second year running, supplying our drinking water for the weekends events. Morrison Utility Services support the water distribution services on behalf of Yorkshire Water.

Directions
/Parking:

The event centre, campsite and day car parking will be in Low North Park, an old army camp to the northwest of Scarborough. The entrance to the park is at GR SE 947953.
The event will be signposted from the A171 at GR 956995 and from the A170 at GR 989849. Please allow plenty of time to reach the event, particularly if your route includes the A64 from the A1 towards Scarborough. This road can be extremely congested on the August Bank Holiday weekend and is best avoided if at all possible.
When you enter the camp, please follow the signs along the concrete road for approx 1km to the event centre and parking and obey the instructions of the marshals and park neatly. A parking pass must be displayed in your windscreen at all times. If you have not ordered a pass, car parking is £1 per car per day.
The Event Centre and Camping are adjacent to the car park. A one-way system is likely to be in operation and a strict speed limit will be in place and must be adhered to at all times. These measures are in place for everyone's safety and anybody not following the camp rules will be asked to leave immediately.

Facilities:

Portaloos, Yorkshire Water, and a skip will be provided.
Ultrasport, CompassPoint, Wilfs, and Fat Pigs will be in attendance.
Please make your own arrangements for milk and other essentials.

Campsite:

The campsite is divided into two areas on either side of the event centre and will be available from 4pm Friday to 4pm Monday. The main roadway through the event centre and access to the campsites will be closed to vehicles every evening from 10pm to 8am. Please have your campsite pass ready for checking when you arrive and clearly display it on your tent/caravan/dormobile. There are separate areas for caravans & dormobiles, a 'youth camp', and general camping. Please follow the instructions of the Campsite registration team.
There is limited space for cars in the camping areas. Please park/camp in as small an area as possible. If you don't need your car next to you, please leave it in the car parking area. If we run out of space, you may be asked to move your car. Please co-operate with the Campsite team.
Please respect other campers at all times, but in particular after dark. We request that you make no noise between the hours of 11:00pm and 7:30am. Please do not drive in the field after 10pm. Note that Eborienteers are not responsible for maintaining peace and quiet - we expect people to be considerate to others. Unreasonable behaviour will result in disqualification from the event.
The camping areas are a short walk from the event centre, please do not use your car unless you have to and please take care at all times.

E-punching: All badge, colour coded and relay courses will use SI Electronic punching. If you are not sure how to use this, help will be available at Enquiries.
Prizegiving: The White Rose Trophies are based on the cumulative times for Days 1 and 2.
Prizes will be awarded to the first 3 in all badge classes.
The Badge event prizegiving will take place at 16:30 on Sunday in the event centre. The Relay prizegiving will be at 14:30 on Monday in the Relay assembly area.

  Competition Details
Bike-O: See here.
Out of
Bounds:
All areas outside the campsite and event centre are out of bounds except while competing on your course. Anyone entering Out of Bounds areas will be disqualified.
Terrain:
(all days)
Low North Park is owned by Scarborough and District Motor Club and is used extensively for motorcycle competitions and you will see evidence of the racetrack and technical sections all over the area. The rest of the area is mixed coniferous and deciduous forest, with varying runnability and an extensive network of paths and rides. Some parts of the area are rocky and marshy. The area is hilly in places - course lengths have been reduced to take this into account.
Day 1 uses the north end of the Derwent valley as used at JK 87. Competitors are advised that crossing points are recommended but optional. Fences can be crossed at any point but competitors must report any damage. Fence crossings really only affect courses 1-6. Forestry operations in the east of the area have imposed some planning restrictions.
Day 2 largely uses a new area to the north of Langdale Forest and includes semi-open runnable valleys and an area of open moorland. Competitors need to be aware of some marshy rides. One of the worst areas has been mapped as uncrossable marsh but there may be other unmapped areas. Competitors approaching controls near the uncrossable marsh should be cautious. Forestry operations in the area have led to the construction of a new track/road, with a possibility of new felling commencing in the area. There are some areas of dark green - ditches mapped in these areas are generally very runnable allowing access to controls without too much trouble. Bracken growth is significant in the rides to the east of the area. Paths will be made through the bracken where junior courses are affected. Note that most rides in the area are pretty rough - it may be better to stay in the forest. All courses cross a stream near the finish and on longer courses more than once, so please take care as rocks may be slippery when wet.
The Relay area uses largely Low North Park and some of the surrounding slopes on the longer courses. The park is a complex mixture of a variety of terrain and should provided some exciting racing. The stream used on day 2 will be crossed by some courses so please take care.

Control
Descriptions:
Because we are using the same area for all days, Control descriptions will not be available in advance. The descriptions will be available in the start lanes at -3 for days 1 and 2. In addition, control descriptions will be printed on the front of the badge event maps and stuck on the back of the relay maps.
Controls: Control markers will be hung from aluminium stakes. The control numbers and SI units will be on the stakes. The units will flash and 'beep' when your SI card is correctly inserted. There will be no backup punches. If a unit fails, please report the control number to the Finish.

/Finish:

There will be no warm-up area near the start. There will be a bottle dump at the starts.
Day 1: The start is 750m walk from assembly, with 90m climb, allow 20 minutes. The route crosses a shallow river and ropes will be in place to steady you as you cross. The finish is 250m uphill walk ( 5 minutes ) from the event centre.
Day 2: The start is 1.7km walk from assembly, with 90m climb, allow 30 minutes. The finish is 500m walk ( 5 minutes ) from the event centre.
