Planner's Comments

With the concept of planning a score event I was all up for it. Then it was sprung upon me that it's a "Team Score" well... I'd never actually heard of this strange and bewilderous concept. As Russell and Mike can vouch, it took me a long time for it to sink in of what we had to do. By golly, I never knew it was so much work planning an event. The amount of maps I used, the poor trees. But it got done, and after a hard and arduous night of planning, I paid Mike a visit to check everything, a few mistakes here and there (as you would guess on a first event) but everything seemed in order and on the day... Well the weather was gorgeous, and from what I hear the event was well enjoyed, with only a few minor hick ups.

Controller's Comments

A lot of work went into this event, which was, in many ways, a trial run for the Day 3 at the White Rose 2005. Russell and Matthew got their heads round this style of event quite quickly, considering that it was their first ever attempt at organising and planning. It was interesting to hear the comments at the finish, in particular the fact that a lot of thought had to go into allocating the controls to the team members. The overall reaction was that it had been an enjoyable event because it was different and was challenging from the start. We learnt a lot about how it could be improved. In particular, in having the drinks at the holding area, having more room at the start and changing the way the maps were given out. Having such a pleasant day, it was a bit disappointing that only about 35 people turned up after all the had work (including gardening the intermittent path!), but the appreciative comments made it seem worthwhile.

Organiser's Comments

To say this was mine and Matthews first attempt of running an event, with the aid of Mike, the day went quite smoothly with only a few things that we could have done better or changed, such as putting a drinks station in the holding area while team members waited for each other. With this event being a Team Score we had to get our heads around the idea of this new event, with no previous knowledge of what was involved or was needed.
