This was my first crack at organising a District Event so I was very relieved that everything went OK on the day, especially after disaster had struck when our planner, Graham Dawson, broke a leg at the Lakes 5 days.
So I must say a big thank you to everyone who helped, so soon after the White Rose, and especially to Dave Horn who besides being controller, picked up most of the Planner's functions which could not be performed from an armchair.
Raincliffe is a favourite area of mine, both for orienteering and walking, and it has been a disappointment to me that too often the calendar dictates that we orienteer there in deep mud. So I was particularly glad that we finally had a chance to show it off in perfect weather conditions. It's just a pity that competing events meant that there weren't that many people to enjoy it.
