Comments
Please note that the delay in producing results has been because one of the controls, 113, was stolen.
This affected the Long course and the Medium course.
In order to produce fair and meaningful results for these two courses the times for the legs to and from the lost control have been deducted from each competitor's course time (i.e. 127 - 109 on Long, and 101 - 115 on Medium). Thus no competitor will lose out for time spent vainly looking for the lost control.
Controller's Comments
Brayton Barff is a small area with limited technical challenge. Steve planned courses that made good use of the terrain. At this time of year undergrowth and brambles are less of a problem than in summer. Both the Long and Medium courses had the over or round leg between #109 and #121 but in opposite directions.
There were only half a dozen sites that could be described as technical and 3 of them suffered interference although only #113 had an effect on the competition. Discounting the times taken to and from #113 means that the timed competition was over 4.1k (Long) and 3.4k (Medium).
Thanks to the main officials John and Maggie Archer and Steve Willis for their work. They were ably assisted by a team of volunteers whose time and effort are appreciated.
