There was a tie between Harrogate and Ryedale to win
There was a tie between Hambleton and York for third place.
4 teams took part. For the morning competition, 5 of a team’s 15 members did Course 1, 5 did Course 2 and 5 did Course 3. The Courses were of similar length and although many controls were the same, there were minor differences. Competitors were in this way rewarded for paying close attention to their map and the control descriptions. There was a similar competition in the afternoon (Courses 4,5,6). A woodland start was used for this competition.
The method of scoring was based on the competitors for each Course being ranked in order of time taken. For the 20 competitors on each Course, the fastest four were given 5 points each, the next four competitors got 4 points each and so on. The points for each District were added together. Harrogate and Ryedale got a total of just under 110 points each. Hambleton and York got just over 70 points each.
Individual times can be found from the links lower down this page.
Particularly impressive was the number of children running their courses in under 10 minutes.
There were a number of non-competitive participants from Harrogate. They ran the same courses after the competitive teams had all started and the non-competitive individual results are also accessible from below (1C,2C,3C and 4D,5D,6D).
