With the new school year comes the new fixture list for the Millennium Schools League. The format will be the same as last year - with the same objective, to encourage more juniors to come along and enjoy themselves! As before each individual's completed courses contributes to their own individual score and to the school score; in this way groups of inexperienced Orienteers have the chance to beat the top runners!
The competition is open to pupils and students of all schools and 6th form colleges in the Ebor and Halo areas. You do not need to be an Orienteering club member, but if you are give both your club and school details at registration.
Simply turn up at one of the events listed below. Choose a course appropriate to your age and experience (ask for help if unsure), and give your school and school year to registration. Your scores will automatically be entered into the league.

The list of fixtures is correct at time of printing in October, and includes all available Ebor and Halo fixtures. Details may change as fixtures are confirmed, please keep an eye out for updates in the club newsletters and at events.
An entrant's best 3 scores from the nominated events will count.
The score achieved depends on the course entered and how close you came to the winner's time on that course:-
So, points scored =
| winner's time x | maximum colour score |
| time taken |
| Colour | Max Score |
|---|---|
| Brown | 1000 |
| Blue | 900 |
| Green | 800 |
| Light Green | 700 |
| Red | 600 |
| Orange | 500 |
| Yellow | 400 |
| White | 200 |
In the individual section results will be separated into boys and girls in each Key Stage. In the schools competition boys and girls will be combined in each Key Stage. Clearly there is tactical advantage in entering the most appropriate course! Pupils and teachers should seek advice on this if uncertain.
Results for each event will distributed in the usual way. Updated EYSL scores will be displayed at each of the league events and on the Ebor website on www.eborienteers.org.uk.
Again prizes or certificates will be awarded to the first three in each class for both the individual and school sections. I hope to display final results and present prizes at an event before the end of the Summer Term.
