Despite being held over the August Bank Holiday weekend in a popular holiday region, there are numerous accommodation options available.
Hotels, Guest houses, friendly pubs and B&B's abound in the Pickering area, and full details of all the options available can also be obtained from Pickering Tourist Information Office on 01751 473791. Orienteers preferring accommodation by the seaside can try Scarborough - 35km from the event, and Whitby - 29km distant on 01723 383637
The traditional accommodation choice at the White Rose is, of course, camping and the event will provide an exclusive campsite in a delightful rural location adjacent to the assembly area and finish. Separate areas will be available for those campers preferring quiet and those wanting to party till (almost) dawn. Book your event camping pitch on the entries page.
Space will be available for tents, caravans and camper vans. The event campsite is in a delightful rural location, but it is less than 2km from the Mucky Duck pub in Newton-on-Rawcliffe where there is a small campsite and where food is available. There are numerous pubs and restaurants in Pickering but we hope that Wilfs Cafe will be open in the assembly area for much of the weekend.
Orienteers preferring full service campsites should contact Pickering Tourist Office or contact direct one of the more prominent serviced sites in the area at Vale of Pickering (near Allerston) and Thornton le Dale (adults only and no tents).
The nearest youth hostel to the event is Lockton, just 9km distant over rough forest roads - but check final details, as this vehicular approach passes through the competition area so may be prohibited. Other youth hostels are at Boggle Hole, Scarborough and Whitby. Book direct with YHA.
Whatever your accommodation choice, you can be sure of an excellent, high quality welcome in North Yorkshire.
